Jim Lawrence
I am a long standing, occasional competing member of the Shreveport Photographic Society whose primary current interest is Landscape, Travel and Documentary. I was introduced to photography in Viet Nam in 1969 with the purchase of an Olympus Pen FT half frame SLR, with the idea of documenting “the war with a half size camera“. After returning to the states I became a member of the Lafayette Photographic Society and quickly “learned” what photography really is. I quickly found it is very hard to compete with half of slide and bought a full size SLR. I have been in club photography in Japan, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, and now back in Louisiana. I have held offices in every club I have been in. I retired from service and bought a Studio, shooting mainly Commercial and Portrait work. While in Japan I taught photography courses leading students to obtain an AA degree in photography from Los Angeles Community College Overseas. I have held every office in SPS.
